Alexander Zuback

Alexander E. Zuback, age 71, longtime resident of Bolingbrook, IL, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, July 20, 2016. He was born on March 3, 1945 in Uffenheim, Germany to Mary Koltyk. He and his mother immigrated to the United States in 1950 where Mary met and married Emil Zuback, who adopted Alex as his son. Alex is survived by his beloved wife, Marie, whom he married on September 24, 1966; his devoted children, Emaley (Jack) Losic of Bolingbrook, and Christopher Zuback of Denver, CO; his loving sister, Cathy (Tony) Grieco of Brick, NJ; his granddaughter, Hannah Losic of Bolingbrook, IL; and his niece and nephews, William (Erin) Grieco, Gina (Joe) Scutro, and Anthony Grieco all of Brick, NJ. Alex is preceded in death by his parents. Alex grew up in Carteret, NJ and graduated from Carteret High School in 1963. He attended first the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut in 1963, and later returned to school to receive his degree from Union College in New Jersey in 1975. In 1965, Alex had enlisted in the Army Branch of the National Guard in which he served for 6 years. He began his career with Mack Trucks in 1968. In 1977, he transferred to Chicago as Service Manager to one of the largest branches in the country. Throughout his years at Mack Trucks, Alex continued to receive promotions until he retired from the company in 2013 as a Regional Service Manager after 45 years of service. He was an avid traveler, an enthusiastic sports fan, and a dependable Mr Fix-it. Funeral Information Visitation will be Sunday, July 31, 2016 from 1:00 – 3:30pm. A prayer service will be held at 3:30pm. Donations In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a memorial donation be made to any of the following charities: 1) American Diabetes Association (www.diabetes.org) - Alex, due to many advancements in treatments, lived with this disease for many years, but also realized the continued need for more research 2) PTSD Foundation of America (ptsdusa.org) - Recently Alex had expressed his concerned for our Veterans. As he began to grow more aware of the effects of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and the support needed for our returning men and women 3) American Heart Association (www.heart.org) - Not only his personal struggles, but also members of his family, including his mother, had dealt with their own heart issues
