Christopher Bisplinghoff

Christopher Eric Bisplinghoff, 42, of Bolingbrook by way of Champaign-Urbana, and Northfield, Illinois, died at home after succumbing to a condition he had been struggling with for several months. Chris is survived by his loving wife Sara, his two incredible children Audrey and Zachary, his adoring brother Daniel, his proud and loving parents Gretchen and Keith, and his beloved grandmother Elizabeth Toye, and loving Aunt Carol Goin. Chris grew up in Northfield and attended Avoca Elementary School, and Marie Murphy Junior High and graduated in 1989 from New Trier High School East. While at New Trier he sang in the freshmen boys’ choir and in the nationally renowned Concert Choir which, in 1988, gave a concert in Carnegie Hall. He also received a varsity letter in fencing. He continued his education at Northern Illinois University where he had received a full four year scholarship. After receiving his B.A. from Northern he enrolled at the University of Illinois and received his Masters in Social Work. He spent the rest of his adult life helping those in need in our society; abused and abandoned children, the mentally ill and the homeless. He worked with Hull House in Chicago and most recently with the Alden Group. Along with other members of his church congregation he went to Mississippi twice following Katrina to help with clean up and rebuilding of property destroyed by the storm. Chris found the love of his life, Sara Piper, at NIU where she was majoring in Dance. She transferred to U of I when he went there for his Masters and they married, shortly after their graduations, on May 25th 1996. Their relationship produced two fantastic children who Chris dearly loved and was extremely proud of. Chris, through his love and devotion for his wife and family, found a deep and abiding faith in the Lord. He participated in many church activities including running the media board for services and his all-time favorite of singing in the church band where Sara played keyboards. He always had a beautiful tenor voice. Chris was an extraordinary human being who brought joy to the hearts of everyone he knew. His family and friends will sorely miss his kindness, his goofiness and his love. He was the best of men.
