Christy L. Lord

Christina Louise Lord of Bolingbrook passed away at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago on Monday, October 19, 2015. She and her twin sister Diane were born in Hoffman Estates on August 16, 1981, the daughters of Scott and Judy Carney. Christy lived with her family in Hoffman Estates and Palatine graduating from Fremd High School and Bradley University. Music played an important role in Christy’s life as did her deep and abiding faith. She taught at junior high schools in Peoria and Arlington Heights, Illinois and most recently was a Customer Service Representative at Fresenius-Kabi Pharmaceuticals. She married Shawn in 2006 and they have two amazing children, Benjamin (7) and Katheryn (2) that were her greatest loves. Those that knew Christy found her quick to smile, but more so, quick to truly care about them. Her keen eye for detail and beauty were evident in her quilting, needlework, sewing and crafting projects. She always enjoyed providing tasty foods and treats for family and friends that were filled with her primary ingredient of true love. Christy’s faith, so very strong, but yet so subtle, guided her throughout her life. That faith girded her through a long and difficult path of treatments to conquer lymphoma. She demonstrated a quiet strength that amazed family, friends and the many various staff at Rush University Medical Center; she was gratified to know that her participation in a study drug trial will help others on a similar path. In addition to her immediate family, Christy is survived by her parents, Scott and Judy Carney of Palatine; sister Diane Carney of Naperville; grandparents Dorothy Carney of Godfrey, and Charles and Trudy VanWiggeren of Lincolnshire; aunts and uncles Carol and Greg Fletcher of Alton, Sandy and Doug VanWiggeren of O’Fallon, and Gail and Steve Steining of Burnsville, Minnesota; and cousins Greg (Michelle) VanWiggeren, David (Christina) VanWiggeren, Rebecca (Adam) Mohr, Jon (Shannon) Steining, and Marc (Kelly) Steining . She also will be missed by Cindy and John Lord, her brothers-in-law James Lord, Danny Lord and Tom Lord, their extended families, and many close friends. She was preceded in death by her grandfather Thomas Carney. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, October 23 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Bolingbrook-McCauley Funeral Chapel, 530 West Boughton Road, Bolingbrook, Illinois. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 24 at 11 a.m. at New Life Lutheran Church, 249 North Bolingbrook Drive Bolingbrook, Illinois to be followed by a luncheon provided by the congregation.
