George J. Drobilek

George John Drobilek was born on May 4, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois and was raised in Phillips, Wisconsin. He was a 1948 graduate of Phillips High School and was a member of both the Wisconsin National Guard and the Illinois National Guard, and served two years in the Korean War. He was a facility engineer for 35 years at the Sunbeam Corporation in Chicago, and he serviced their many other plants in the southern states as well. He was well respected and known as one of the “Chicago Seven” for his knowledge and technical skills that kept their plants running efficiently. After the Chicago plant packed up and moved south, George became a building engineer for the National Fiberglass plant in Romeoville, Illinois where he continued working for another 10 years, until his retirement. He spent the majority of his retirement years tenderly spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren with love and affection and many fun-filled vacations. He is their “Papa” and will forever be in their hearts. After a brief but courageous battle with cancer, George is now able to rest in peace. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Francis Drobilek, and his son George G. Drobilek (Jr.), who also passed of cancer just 7 months ago. He is survived in life by his beloved wife of fifty-six years Caroll (Miller), his loyal brothers Jerry, Joe and John, his dedicated sisters Jarmie (Kalebic) and Dottie (Turicek), his devoted son Jeff, his loving daughter Barbara (McCauley), his caring son-in-law James McCauley, and his affectionate daughter-in-law Millie (Letmeier). He also leaves behind his six adoring grandchildren; Tina Drobilek, Danielle McCauley-Conn and husband Kyle Conn, Krystal Drobilek, Jeffrey Drobilek, Brandon McCauley, and Tiffany Drobilek, and four tender loving great-grandchildren Kylee, Leo, Lukas and Darcy, and many nieces and nephews. Although our hearts have all been broken and our lives will never be the same, we know that God will call us one-by-one, and our family will one day reunite again. Visitation is Friday, December 13, 2013 from 3:00PM until 8:00PM. Funeral service Saturday 10:00AM at the funeral chapel. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
