Judy Carnegie

Judith Z. Carnegie passed away peacefully surrounded by his beloved husband, son, sister and brother-in-law. Judy was the youngest of three born to Francis S. Zoda and Alice S. Zoda in Kane County, Ill. She is survived by her devoted husband of 33 years Scott R. Carnegie, favorite and only son Ian, older brother Mike Zoda (wife Carla) and older sister Ruth Z. Beck (husband Roger) both of Tallahassee, FL., an uncle Bruce Springborn (wife Rosemary) of Lakeland, FL., and aunt Dorothy Zoda of Lisle, Il. She also had many cousins throughout the US. And with her always, her current and faithful pack of wiener dogs, Fry, Biscuit and Gravy. Judy graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a BA in Consumer Affairs and a Masters in Consumer Affairs from Illinois State University. She worked in sales for Ford Motor Credit, Suzki Motors, and for the past 10 years as a Patient Advocate at Cancer Treatment Centers of America. She left a lasting mark on many of her co-workers as evidenced by the number of people from her past and current jobs who sent texts, calls, and remembrances, and attended her memorial service. Judy’s favorite hobby was being with her men, Scott and Ian. This was a family of foodies. They loved cooking together, investigating and tweaking new recipes and recently traveled abroad to try the cuisine of Spain. She loved Da Bears and knew many of the players by name, number and stats. On any given Sunday during football season you would find her at home, or with friends at their home, or sports bar watching them loose and but ever hopeful that they would win. Judy visited with her Tallahassee, Fl. siblings regularly. She and her sister Ruth mastered the fine art of shopping across the panhandle of north Florida. They would shop, and walk, and talk, and eat, always enjoying each other’s company immensely. One of her favorite holiday activities was to bake dozens or cookies of different varieties and share them with friends, neighbors and the students where her husband taught. Judy was well known for her kindness to everyone she met. She was a hugger. She had a willingness and ability to accept people where they were at. But she was also able to ask piercing questions that would make you think and share an incredible sense of wisdom. She loved well, was loved by many, and will be missed dearly.
