Kevin Patrick Fitzgerald

Kevin Patrick Fitzgerald – sharp dresser, lover of cooking, gathering, entertaining and chardonnay has passed on July 1, 2018. Kevin has been lucky in leading a full happy life that was shared by a loving family and a very large group of friends, colleagues and clients. Passions he excelled at include his career as a real estate agent in the city of Chicago, which he loved; creating elaborate dinner parties, the longer the lingering the better. He was known for his decorating ability and an avid DIYer. Whether he was a host or a guest – he was always charming and assisting better than your average Maître d. Everyone he befriended became family and became fond. As a younger man growing up with 4 sisters and a brother Kevin was “the master of disaster!” He was a true boy in that fashion – messing with his cars until he was grimy from head to toe! His cars were all “classics”! Especially his Cutlass SS – no crème puff for sure! His well-dressed life began early in the 70’s with a love for large collared silky shirts. Kevin was always “mother’s favorite” probably due to the fact she felt the need to save him from all of his sisters! His house cleaning skills started at about 8 years old. His Felix Unger like behavior lasted his entire life, just ask his roommates! Uncle Kevin was totally a favorite – he fell in love with each of his 9 nieces and nephews. He was always wrestling with the younger ones, causing quite a ruckus and usually ending up with the kid in trouble! His love of cars and kids came out as he helped a number of them get wheels! He’d outshine the rest of us with his gift giving and the kids loved him for it! Kevin is survived by his mother Patricia Fitzgerald, siblings Karen (Frank) Schwantes, Pamela Spradau, Janet Fitzgerald, Vicki (Mike)Kugach and Shawn Fitzgerald. He will be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews – Tony, Tyler, Tara, Jamie, Nick, Alanna, Mikayla, Emily and Bethany. Preceded in death by his father, John Fitzgerald. Kevin has left an impression on many as evidenced by some of the notes, calls and visits. He was a class act, that’s for sure. We are going to miss the hell out of him. In lieu of flowers, gifts in Kevin’s memory may be made to the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University to support esophageal cancer research.
