Robert W. "Bob" Kolarik

Robert William Kolarik, born July 6th, 1943 is survived by his wife Sharon Sandra Kolarik (nee Bielecki), his children; Kimberly Ann, Katheryn, Sara Elizabeth, and Robert James, and his grandchildren; Chelsie May, Jaxon Wyatt, and Bruce James. Bob, as he was more commonly known, was perpetually self-sufficient, a hard worker all his life, as stubborn as a mule but had such a gentleness about him that he made everyone feel welcome as soon as they walked in the door. He greeted you with a firm hand shake or a hug and the biggest smile you’d ever seen. He was modest and didn’t enjoy the lime light, but give him a cup of coffee and a wall and he would be perfectly happy to just stand and watch the joy around him. He was a man of many talents and had an incredible thirst for learning. While in the Air Force, Bob worked as a cryptographer, and after his honorable discharge, obtained his vocational certificate in electronics. After a time, he opened his own repair shop, Kolarik Electronics, in Bolingbrook, which was followed by Alpha TV in Downers Grove. He remained owner and operator of Alpha TV until he retired. And even then, he wasn’t done. He continued his education, studying Microsoft applications and became a certified Microsoft technician. During this time, he was employed with NetMedic as an IT consultant. Later in his life he pursued his interest in photography by entering the world of photo restoration, where Bob created Yesteryear Memories LLC. Through all of this he helped raise four brilliant children and his eldest grandchild. He spent time cultivating hobbies like reading and history, to coin collecting and genealogy, as well as bird watching and gardening. Bob loved hard with everything he was. He gave one hundred and ten percent in all his endeavors while making sure every life he touched was left a little happier. We ask that in lieu of flowers, you consider making a donation to your local blood bank or to The Wounded Warrior Project www.woundedwarriorproject.org We invite you to attend a public service which will be held on Friday January 13, 2017 from 4pm-8pm at McCauley Funeral Home on Boughton Road in Bolingbrook IL. There will be a Military honors service and a short prayer service at 6:30PM.
