Wally Hilb

Walter Raymond Hilb, 500 Whitby Ct. Bolingbrook IL, after a hard-fought battle with cancer, passed away January 27th, 2018, at 12:00 PM at Bolingbrook Adventist Hospital in Bolingbrook IL. Wally was born in Franklin Park Illinois, December 31st 1946 son of Jeanne Francise Hilb and Chester Fredrick Hilb also gifted him with two brothers, Lawrence Lee Hilb, and Chester “Buddy” Hilb Jr. and a baby Peggy Jean Hilb/Russell. Walter graduated from Glenbard East High school in his courageous youth and was drafted into the United States Army in 1966 because of his skills as a diesel mechanic. He was stationed in Würtzburg Germany where he fell hopelessly in love with his future wife Gudrun Katharina Drexel/Hilb, which, much to the chagrin of his commanding officers, led to many shenanigans of him skipping base to go be with her. Walter and Gudrun married in 1968 in Reichenberg Germany and traveled back to Illinois where they started their family together. They had one son, Jeffrey Ray Hilb, married to Melissa Hilb, and two daughters Jennifer Gertraud Hilb/Troc, married to Michael Troc, and Christine Heike Hilb. Wally always made sure his family was happy, he was a hard worker and a self-made man with skills on every table, he started G&W Heating and Cooling and worked for the Heat Engineering Company in 1976 and retired in 2011 as manager of the Countryside office. His children brought him six grandchildren, Donovan, Adam, Kai, Bode, Michael and Macie, who he was so in love with, he decided to give the world to them. Every moment he had was devoted to making people smile and laugh with his corny jokes and being a beacon of a man for people to strive to be. He was devoted to his wife, Gudrun, with whom not one in their 50 years went by that was not an adventure. He is remembered by all he touched with his amazing smile and lovable personality. And wherever he is, in our hearts especially, if you’d like to know how he’s doing, he would like you to know that he is “not bad, can’t complain, nobody wants to hear it anyway.”
