Elizabeth "Betsy" Traczek

December 7, 2019

Elizabeth “Betsy” Traczek, formerly of Bolingbrook, currently of Chicago, passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2019, with her family by her side. Betsy, a loving and devoted, daughter, sister, aunt and friend, is now in Heaven after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She is preceded in death by her mother, Marilyn (Reckase) Traczek. Loving daughter of Alfred Traczek, and loving sister of Christopher (Ann), Cathy (John Colucci), Greg (Stephanie), and Michael (Antonette). Dear aunt of Erin, Zachary, Cara, Madelyn, Camille and Sophia—and loving friend of many. Betsy was a dedicated Chicago sports fan, supporting the White Sox, Bears, Hawks and Bulls, and she loved being a Chicago girl and experiencing all the city had to offer. It gave Betsy great pleasure to share the city with her family and friends, and especially her nieces and nephew. Betsy was a “yes” person - always up for an adventure. She especially treasured her lake house and cottage weekends, concerts, and traveling anywhere and everywhere with family and friends. Betsy graduated from Bolingbrook High School and then Marquette University with a B.A. in Business Administration and Accounting. Betsy remained close with her extended Marquette family and was known to spend quite a few weekends back in Milwaukee celebrating with friends and watching MU basketball. Betsy started with The John Buck Company upon her graduation from Marquette in 1995, starting as an accountant, then working her way up to a Property Manager, and culminating her career as a Principal, Director of Property Management and a member of JBC’s Board of Directors. Betsy took extreme pride in her work with The John Buck Company and had a knack for being able to communicate with and lead at all levels, never forgetting where she started. She also was a proud member of the Board of Directors of Building Managers and Owners Association of Chicago (BOMA) and of Chicago Real Estate Network (CREN) and often liked to share her experiences with those groups and the friendships made. She leaves behind a very supportive and adoring work family. Betsy was known for her quick wit, knack for numbers, generosity, and her kind, fun and friendly spirit. Adults and kids alike gravitated to her. Always the smartest and most fun person in the room… Betsy will be missed very dearly by her family and vast network of friends. Her spirit will live on in all who have known her. Donations can be made in Betsy’s name to The John Buck Company Foundation, Attn: Donna Wright, 151 North Franklin, Suite 300, Chicago, IL 60606.
