Jyotsna Shastri

May 20, 1935 - November 4, 2020

Bhagvan (God) brought peace and made an angel of our cherished Mrs. Jyotsna Shastri (nee: Modha) on November 4th, 2020 at the age of 85. Jyotsna was born on May 20th, 1935 in Porbander, India to the late Vallabhbhai and Amritbhen Modha. Jyotsna paved the workforce path in India for women serving as an English teacher while holding her Master’s Degree in Economics. Known for her joy and dedication to her family, Jyotsna transitioned to the United States with her late husband, Harivallabh H. Shastri in 1988. Jyotsna acclimated to the United States where she spent the remainder of her life caring for her family. Her spirit on earth included gardening, watching soap operas, shopping, and watching videos on youtube. Jyotsna is survived by her two sons; Bimal (Shruti), and Rajshekar (Sangita) Shastri. Known as “Mummay”, Jyotsna is the grandmother of Ritvij (Sheila), Rucha, Salil (Amy), Nupur, Krishna, and Abhi, and great-grandmother to Mateo, Amelia, Thea, and Everly. Jyotsna is survived by her 4 siblings with a large extended family worldwide. Jyotsna is preceded in death by her late husband, Harivallabh, her parents, and siblings. Their divine spirits can finally reunite in peace. Jyotsna will be missed, yet, her love and impact will be cherished and never forgotten. Jyotsna's celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 7th at 11am at McCauley-Sullivan Funeral Home & Crematorium. 530 W. Boughton Rd. Bolingbrook, IL 60440.
