Omar J. Manchester
May 27, 2008 - June 10, 2022
Omar J. Manchester, age 14, of Bolingbrook, passed away June 10, 2022, after a battle with osteosarcoma. Omar will be greatly missed as he was loved and treasured by his family. Devoted son of Beatriz (nee Quiñones) and Josh Manchester. The best big brother Axel Manchester could ever ask for. Beloved grandson of Judith (late Alan) Manchester, Annie Batista, and the late Hector Quiñones, Esq. Cherished great nephew of Jean Obermeier. Adored nephew of Danika Manchester Juan Antonio Rodriguez and Melisa Quiñones. Dear cousin of Diego and Dylan Rodriguez. Growing up in Bolingbrook, IL, Omar attended Hidden Oaks Preschool, Pioneer Elementary, R.C. Hill Elementary, and Brooks Middle School. He participated in many activities, including cross country running, soccer, baseball, scouting, coding, robotics, theater, painting, band, and singing. He recently was inducted into the National Junior Honor Society and graduated 8th grade with honors. Omar was mature beyond his years, kind, intelligent, thoughtful, independent, and loved to debate. He was uncompromising about the truth, but open to new ideas. Omar had a natural curiosity and valued the opportunity to attend Illinois Math and Science Academy STEM camps for many years. Omar was a hardworking perfectionist who doggedly saw every task to completion, no matter how extensive. He was an avid video-gamer, especially Pokémon, Animal Crossing, Stardew Valley, Rayman, and anything Legos. Omar shared his father’s love of outdoor activities, including hiking, swimming, canoeing, and camping each summer at Stronghold Castle. He loved reading and had practically memorized the entire Harry Potter series. His family will continue to watch though, because if there is any fantasy more captivating than a boy who one day discovers he’s magical, famous, and powerful, it’s the fantasy that two parents can take his place when faced with certain death. Family and Friends will gather to bury Omar Thursday, June 16, 2:30 PM at Windridge Memorial Park and Nature Sanctuary 7014 S. Rawson Bridge Road, Cary, IL 60013. Those wishing to join should meet at the Windridge office and wear sensible shoes, as Omar requested a green burial and will be placed in a wooded area along a hiking path. A Celebration of Life will be held at First Presbyterian Church of DuPage 180 N. Weber Road, Bolingbrook, IL, Saturday, June 25th at 11AM with reception to follow. Arrangements Entrusted to McCauley-Sullivan Funeral Home
