Obituary

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Anju Chaturvedi Asthana.

Anju was born in Calcutta, India, and spent her youth in Kanpur on Birhana Road. As an adult, Anju lived for a time in Kuwait, but eventually settled with her family in the Chicagoland area. She is survived by her daughters, Kajri and Kanika, four sisters, and many beloved nieces and nephews. She passed with both of her daughters by her side, peacefully.

Anju was a woman who brought exemplary joy and laughter to anyone she met. Children, elders, and strangers, fell in love with her charm. She had a witty remark, an infectious smile, magic hands that have fed most of the Chicago community, all underlined with a grace and a quiet strength of steel.

She was the pinnacle of what a mother, friend, sister, and an aspiration of what a woman should be. Anju leaves a gaping hole in our lives, as she was loved by all in the Chicago community and abroad.
