Barry Edward Engle was born March 27th 1964 & passed away on June 2nd, 2024 from injuries sustained from a fall at his home. He was surrounded by love with his very close friends, Scott, Barb & Andrew by his side until his last breath, & joined his twin brother Terry Engle who passed on March 22nd 2024 & his father, Clifford Engle, who also passed on before him.
Barry is survived by his Cousin, Ron K. & other family members. His friend who was like a brother, for 48 years, Scott Starkey, & wife Barb & their children, & Jan Rome, & Special Friend, Andrew & his family.
He was retired from the Hinsdale Sanitary District, public works department, & also worked as a department head at Neiman Marcus for many years. Barry had a smile that lit up the world. He loved his country, God, & the outdoors. He had a passion for cars just like his twin brother. He took Scott with him to buy his very first Trans Am. Loved the Chicago Bears, The White Sox & even the Green Bay Packers. He also was an amazing cook, loved a great steak & a cold beer, who also had probably spent more money on Reese's peanut butter cups than we realized, which was his favorite candy & loved pickles & hot sauce. Barry was always "extra". Always looking "top shelf" with his attire & cologne selection. His favorite colors were Blue & Gray. He loved listening to Pink Floyd when he got the time to relax. He always made people smile & could crack a joke at the drop of a hat. His laughter was infectious. He had a passion for life & he will be missed dearly. Back in the day, the 80s & 90s if he saw something he wanted but not necessary "needed" he would exclaim "Dude! That's a "Got ta Have"! And buy it. When he hung up the phone after many decades , of conversations he never said goodbye, he said "Later". It was an honor to be his friend, those who were close to him, a very select few were loyal friends. He respected the loyalty, first & foremost & second was the love.
Barry was interred at Woodlawn Cemetery, next to his Father, with a Private Burial & Service on September 26th 2024. Pallbearers were Ron K. Scott Starkey, Andrew, & John. Thank you to the McCauley-Sullivan Funeral home for your compassion, A heartfelt Thank you to the neighbors who found him & called for assistance. Your friendship & love was a "Got Ta Have"..& it's not goodbye, but "Later". Rest in God's grace, you were loved
