Darrell Wagner, a beloved husband, father, Papa, uncle, and friend to all, passed away January 14, 2025 at the age of 71. Darrell's warm smile and friendliness will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Darrell was a man who never met a stranger. He had a gift for striking up conversations with anyone and everyone. Whether it was a quick chat at the gas station or a long conversation with family, neighbors, or friends, Darrell's ability to connect with people was just one of his many endearing qualities. He was a familiar and welcome sight in the neighborhood, often seen reading the newspaper on his patio and greeting passersby. He took a quiet pride in keeping an eye on things, acting as a friendly neighborhood watch.
Family was everything to Darrell. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Joan Wagner, sharing countless cherished memories over their years together. He was a loving and supportive father to his three daughters, Kelsey, Elyse, and Samantha, whom he adored. His role as "Papa" to his granddaughters, Maisie and Ada, brought him immense joy. He relished every moment spent with them, creating memories that will forever be treasured.
Darrell spent many happy hours tending to his tomato plants, and sharing them with family and friends. He also had a soft spot for dogs and was a loving companion to his furry friends throughout his life. A keen follower of sports, Darrell loved to talk about the latest games and scores, always ready for a chat.
Darrell is survived by his wife, Joan Wagner; his daughters, Kelsey (Jon Garcia) Wagner, Elyse (Mike) Yates, and Samantha Wagner; his granddaughters, Maisie and Ada Yates; and many other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 21st, 2025 from 11 AM - 3 PM at McCauley-Sullivan Funeral Home & Crematorium located on 530 W. Boughton Rd. Bolingbrook, IL 60440.
