Fredrick "Rick" J. Coder's Obituary

Fredrick 'Rick' J. Coder
Passed away suddenly and peacefully on 9/29/22 while vacationing in Las Vegas, NV. He is survived by his heartbroken wife of 37 years, Pamela (nee Dodaro); loving sons Rick (Shannon) and Louis (Maggie); cherished grandson Dominic and inseparable companion bulldog, Fletcher. In addition, his brother Don (Candy) and sister Betsy Coder; brother-in-law Anthony (Vicki) Dodaro, sisters-in-law Angelique (Chris) Capalbo and Antoinette (Paul) Bria; and his 'brother from another mother', Bob McClain. Rick was cherished by his extended family of aunts and uncle, Angeline Picchetti, Rena (the late Dave) Pifer and Gloria (Jack) Amaro, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and an abundance of close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Donald Coder and Elaine Coder, his brother Lee and his in-laws Anthony and Frances Dodaro.
Rick was born and raised in Central Stickney and graduated in 1971 from Reavis High School. He was fortunate to retire from two jobs; he was a Teamster in Local #710 and from the Village of Bolingbrook. Most of his retirement was spent cultivating his perfectly manicured lawn which was the envy of his neighbors. He was ecstatic when the Cubs won the World Series in 2016, boasting he saw all major Chicago sports teams win championships during his lifetime. He protected and loved his family fiercely and their grief will endure them for the rest of their lives. The proudest days of his life was when he witnessed the birth of his sons. He beamed with pride and joy when his grandson was placed in his arms for the first time. He was a proud man. He was a vain man. He gave all of himself to everyone and was blunt and brutely honest in the process. His brawny physical appearance, low deep voice and piercing blue eyes intimidated many; but once you knew him you quickly realized why his nickname was 'Poopie'.
