Obituary

Garnett Bernell Shaver February 1, 1940 – July 17, 2023

While at home, our Savior took Garnett at the age of eighty-three, in the early morning hours of July 17th.

Garnett was born in a house built by her father in Levels, West Virginia. Her primary education was in a one room schoolhouse for grades first through fourth, before her family relocated to Chicago, Illinois where she finished her education.

While working in Chicago, she was a cashier at Montgomery Ward. Chicago was where she met and married her first husband Corporal Kenneth Eis U.S. Army. They had three children: Kenneth, Dennis, and Donna, but divorced in 1967.

Garnett met the love of her life, Larry Shaver, they had a whirlwind romance and married on August 19, 1969. Together they had a daughter, Lynda. Garnett and Larry were married for nearly fifty-four years.

She was not a star nor a celebrity, and she did not seek fortune or fame, she lived
her life serving the needs of others.

While making their home in Bolingbrook, Illinois, Garnett was an avid doll collector and volunteer with the local Civil Defense, (ESDA). Where she was a State certified EMT and rose to the office of Assistant Director. Garnett volunteered with the Bolingbrook fire department on their ambulance. She was a
life member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 5917 and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary post 1288. Garnett retired in 1998 from Microdynamics Corporation of Naperville.

Garnett is survived by her loving husband Larry, her children: Kenneth (Beth), Dennis (Peggy), Donna and Lynda.
