Gary Fox's Obituary

Gary Fox, son of the late Edward and Ida Fox, born September 21, 1942 in Chicago, IL
passed away peacefully on February 16th, 2025 at 7:13pm. He was surrounded by his
loving family.

Gary was born and raised in both Chicago, IL and Morton Grove, IL and attended Maine
Township High School in Park Ridge, IL. Upon graduating High School, he enlisted into
the United States Air Force where he honorably served his country during the Vietnam
War. During his time in the military, Gary formed his identity as a both a fighter and
protector, which he carried with him for the rest of his life.

He was the protector of, and survived by, his three loving children: Melissa Cox, Stacy
Niehoff, and Jason Fox as well as his son-in-law Tom Cox, Sean Neihoff, and his
Daughter-in-law Carrie Fox. He was a fierce protector of his adoring grandchildren
Ryan Fox, Jeremy Cox, Alex Cox, Kaitlyn Voiculescu, and Kendall Niehoff. Great
Grandchild Enzo Voiculescu. Along with many other friends and family members who
Gary would always be there for. When Gary was asked about his Children's spouses, he
would say, "there is no in-law, that's my daughter, that's my son"

Gary started his career in Sales, which took him to places far and wide across the United
States while he provided for his family. He eventually found his way back home as a
protector in the later stages of his work life.

He was a loved and respected part of the St. Charles Storm basketball community
serving as a security guard for youth games, while also working security at Charlestown
Mall, and even keeping folks on their best behavior for the Kane County Cougars
Baseball Club in Geneva, IL. Through these endeavors Gary formed life-long
friendships, and touched thousands of lives.

In retirement, Gary found immense joy in spending time at his grandchildren's sporting
events from St. Charles East High School Football and Baseball games to Bolingbrook
Trojans Football and Bolingbrook Rampage Travel Baseball Games. Gary also found
delight in the simple pleasures of relaxing in the backyard listening to his Motown
Oldies while he sang along and knocked out book after book of crossword puzzles, Gary
was a Pro at them!

Gary's life could never be summed up in an obituary…but it provides a testament to his
unwavering commitment to his family. Gary loved his family more than himself and it
was seen and felt through not only his words, but his actions.
Gary was an amazing man and his legacy will live on through his family and those that
he touched around him. May he rest in peace.
