Gobind Ratanchand Kanal passed away peacefully on the morning of October 10, 2025, at the
age of 96, after a long and full life.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Meera Kanal, and their children and spouses —
Vikram and Namrata Kanal, Geeta and Rohit Malik, and Kavita and Balaji Gupta.
He leaves behind his cherished grandchildren and their spouses — Varun Gupta, Rahul Malik
and Lauren Bowman, Natasha Kanal and Vikram Vijayrajan, Raman Malik and Caroline
Hoskinson, Nikita Kanal and Sagar Pithadia, and Rohun and Danielle Gupta — as well as his
adored great-grandchildren, Dev Malik, Ria Pithadia, and Sonia Malik. He is survived by his
siblings and their spouses, Pushpa Seth, Gulab and Lajju Kanal, and Romi and Neeru Kanal.
Born in Shikarpur, India (then part of the British Raj) to Ratanchand and Kaushalya Kanal,
Gobind pursued civil engineering and graduated from Pune Engineering College.

In addition, he had an LLB Law degree from India. He went on to serve with distinction in the
Central Public Works Department (CPWD) of the Government of India, building roads and
bridges across remote regions — with Sikkim being among his most cherished postings.
Gobind was a man of intellect, curiosity, and conviction. He loved to host and effortlessly charm
all who visited his home. Never one to withhold his opinions, he engaged life with candor,
humor, and warmth. To his grandchildren, he was a true icon — deeply interested in the details
of their lives and ever eager to tell them what to do. He lived a long, adventurous life that
spanned continents and generations, leaving behind a legacy of love, learning, and laughter.
