James Gordon Acton, age 51, passed away in his sleep on Monday, October 19, 2015. He is the son of Phil Acton, the stepson of Sara Acton, and the brother of Dorothy (Eric) Whiteman and Yale (Melissa) Acton. He is the loving father of Garrett and Isabel Acton of Lemont and the uncle to Shelby and Chase Acton of Kansas City, Missouri, and Hunter Whiteman of Austin, Texas. Gordon was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Gerth, and his nephew, Austin Harper.

A three sport athlete and graduate of Bolingbrook High School, Gordon played football at Purdue University and Eastern Illinois University. Gordon pursued a career as a golf professional and was the head professional at several golf courses in the Chicago area. He currently was the General Manager at Highland Park Country Club.
