Dr. Illur G. Sathy, devoted husband to Prabha; loving father to Michael
(Lydia), Depak (Suma), and Anup (Karyn); adoring grandfather to Eric,
Isabel, Emily, Brian, Joseph, Anand, and Asha passed away peacefully on
Thursday, March 25.
Dr. Sathy was born on July 1, 1933 in Denkanikottai, India to Gopalasetty
and Munivenkatamma. He graduated from Bangalore Medical College in
1962. One year later, he immigrated to the United States and completed
his internship and pediatric residency in Chicago in 1968. He was a
beloved pediatrician for over 50 years, providing care to thousands,
including generations within families. Caring for patients and teaching
students were his lifelong passions. He was known as a kind and
compassionate person who always thought of others before himself. He
was so grateful for the opportunities that were given to him and wanted to
share his good fortune with others. He practiced medicine into his 80s
when he retired but asked in 2020 if he should renew his license to help
fight the pandemic. To the end, he always cared for the well-being of
others in his community.
He was a member of the original Vasavi community in Chicago and was
an active devotee at the Balaji temple in Aurora for nearly 30 years. He
loved watching movies, listening to music of all types (from Indian songs
to country to Lady Gaga) and eating foods from all over the world
(especially Thai food). For almost 58 years, he impacted the world with
his life partner, Prabha. He took great pride in the successes of his
grandchildren and watched as many sporting and musical events as he
could.
He was a wise, gentle and generous soul. He came to the United States
with nothing other than an unwavering devotion to help others and made
life better for tens of thousands of children and families, especially his
own. Dr. Sathy will be dearly missed by his family and community.

Visitation Monday, March 29, 2021 from 3:00pm until time of Puja service 4:30pm at McCauley-Sullivan Funeral Home 530 W. Boughton Rd. Bolingbrook.
