Jack Amaro's Obituary

Jack Amaro

Former resident of Chicago, passed away on October 17, 2025, while residing in
Henderson, Nevada for the past 38 years. He is survived by his devoted wife of 69
years, Gloria (nee Picchetti); his brother Nick (the late Lynn), sisters-in-law
Angeline Picchetti and Rena (the late David) Pifer, along with numerous nieces
and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Dominic and Rose Amaro,
his sister Antoinette Pappalardo, in-laws Frank and Clotilda Picchetti, Frank
Picchetti, Jr., Anthony and Frances Dodaro and nephew David Pifer, Jr.

Jack was born on April 17, 1934. He graduated in 1952 from Crane Technical
High School and achieved as a member of both the National Honor Society and the
High School Baseball Championship Team. He was inducted into the US Army in
1956, stationed first in Texas for four months, then in Germany for fifteen months.
His wife accompanied him as only married men were allowed to have their wives
stay on base. Upon returning to the United States on a cargo ship, he returned to
his job at Sears Roebuck & Co. which he began in 1951 as a dock worker and
retired after 33 years as a manager in 1984. He and his wife moved to Nevada in
1988 where he continued to follow his love of baseball with his all-time favorite
Chicago White Sox and enjoyed his routine outings to the casino to bet on horse
racing.

In all their years together, he and his wife had each other. They were inseparable.
Her grief is profound at the loss of her "Schotzi" and having the strong belief in
her faith she knows they will both be reunited one day.
