Janet L. Mullahey (Willson), age 74, of Bolingbrook, IL, passed away December 14, 2024 surrounded by family. Born May 15, 1950 in Sioux City, IA to George and Doris Willson, she attended Dana College in Blair, NE and started her family in Omaha, NE until relocating to Bolingbrook.
Jan was a dedicated teacher until she retired in May of 2017. Throughout her life, she was always up for an adventure. She enjoyed traveling, playing tennis and listening to music. You could always catch her singing or dancing along. Jan had an eye for design and a love for Egyptian culture. She spent most of her time with family and friends. If she wasn't out with them, she was at home watching her shows and reading a good book with a glass of chardonnay.
Jan's favorite pastime was spending time with her daughter, Katie. They enjoyed shopping, taking trips, and game nights at home. In 2022, Jan became a grandmother to Reed and that was the greatest joy of her life. She adored reading books to him and taking trips to the zoo to see the giraffes, but she cherished their one-on-one time the most. Her legacy will live on through him.
Preceded in death by her parents, George and Doris Willson, and husband, Patrick Mullahey. She was survived by her daughter, Katie (Evan) Johansen, grandson Reed Johansen and brother Brian Willson (Chris Breedlove). Although her immediate family was small, she is survived by many friends that became family.
A celebration of life (Juanita style) will be held in May. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Giraffe Conservation (GCF) in Jan's name would be appreciated. Please use the following link if you'd like to donate in Janet's memory:
