Joan Dolores Bell Murry, born July 9, 1934, in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2026, in Naperville, Illinois. She was the beloved daughter of Horace and Marie Bell, and the devoted sister of Shirley Armstrong, who preceded her in death. Joan also mourned the loss of her nephews, Stephen and Raymond Armstrong, both of whom she held close in her heart throughout her life. Charles Murry and Ron Garcia also preceded her in death.
Joan grew up on the west side of Chicago and attended John Marshall High School, where she formed friendships and memories that stayed with her. She was known for her quiet demeanor, warm spirit and her talent in the kitchen - an avid baker whose treats were shared generously with family and friends. Joan also enjoyed her years selling Avon products, where her kindness and easy conversation made her a favorite among customers.
She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory: her brother-in-law, Dr. Rev. Robert Armstrong; numerous cousins including Jadenia and JB Wilder; Her niece-in-law, Laura Armstrong; and her great-niece and nephews, April (Steve) Clark, Robert (Diana) Armstrong, and Tim (Stephanie) Armstrong. Joan was also blessed to know and lover great-grand nieces and nephews - Jacki, Ben, and Abby - who brought her joy in her later years.
Joan will be remembered for her gentle presence, her loyalty to family, and the steady, quiet grace that defined her life.
The family of Joan Murry would like to thank the people at Lighthouse Palliative Care for their diligence in providing Joan a peaceful and dignified transition.
