John William Marr, a longtime resident of Bolingbrook, IL, passed away Friday, December 6, 2024. Born in Des Moines, Iowa to John Robert and Bette Marr, John spent the first part of his life developing his lifelong devotion to the Iowa Hawkeyes and the mediocrity of Chicago sports, specifically the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears.

In 1977, he married Susan Ralston, and they soon welcomed their first daughter. A job in the Accounting Department at Argonne National Laboratory, which John kept until his retirement in 2016, ultimately brought the family to Bolingbrook. Two more children, a son and second daughter, would follow.

John is survived by his loving wife, Susan, daughter Carolyn (Darren) Leander, son Justin (Jayme) Marr, and daughter Emily (Michael) Ramirez. He was a proud grandpa, affectionately known as "John-Pop," to William, Samuel, Kaden, Camila and Jaxon. He leaves behind a sister, Nancy (Brad) Riley, and was a kind uncle to Rebecca (Andrew) Maddox, Mark (Emily) Riley, and Diane (James) Sanders. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will take place Thursday, December 12th, from 10:00am -1:00pm at McCauley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 530 W. Boughton Rd. Bolingbrook, IL. 60440. Following the visitation, family and friends are invited to gather at the First Presbyterian Church of Dupage, 180 N. Weber Rd Bolingbrook, IL 60440 for a brief memorial service at 2:00pm, followed by lunch in the church's Fellowship Hall.
