Beloved husband of Phyllis Van Beek (née O'Leary). Cherished son of John and Christine Van Beek (née Zuidema). Loving father of John Michael Van Beek and Tammy (née Van Beek) Michael Figus. Proud and devoted grandfather of Zachary and Kailey Figus.

Dear brother of Barbara Travis (née Van Beek), Deborah Tibbens (née Van Beek) and her husband Gary, and Robert Van Beek and his wife Patricia. Fond uncle to many nieces and nephews.

He was a proud member of the Bolingbrook American Legion Post #1288 and honorably served in the United States Air Force for five years as part of the Strategic Air Command.
