Katherine Elizabeth Ward, age 84, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2022. She was born on
December 16, 1937 in Milwaukee, WI, the only child and daughter of Irving and Emily (Klima) Schaefer.
Kathy married Wayne E. Ward on March 21, 1959. Wayne preceded her in death on September 5th,
2012. Kathy was a proud and devoted Navy wife, mother and enjoyed being a homemaker. She was a
member of the United Presbyterian Church of DuPage in Bolingbrook where she served for many years
as a Deacon, a Sunday School teacher and participated in bible studies and United Presbyterian Women
groups. In recent years she has been a devoted member of the Extreme Life Ministries Church in Joliet,
IL. Kathy always had a smile on her face, and never wore any makeup but her favorite red lipstick. She
was dearly loved by her family and friends.
Kathy is survived by her children: Pamela (Michael) Ward-Carr, Steven Ward, Michelle Gonzalez,
grandson Miguel Gonzalez, granddaughter Emily Gonzalez and great-grandson Marcus Johnson and her
lifelong best friend of over 70 years Carol Schimmelpfennig of Milwaukee, WI.

Visitation and Service will be held on February 17th, 2022 at McCauley Sullivan Funeral Home in
Bolingbrook Il. Visitation is at 11:00 am, service begins at 2:00 pm. Private Inurnment will take place at a later date at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Special thanks to dear family friend
Linda Lyda for her years of home care for Kathy, and to ProMedica Hospice and Symphony Northwoods
staff for their compassionate care of Kathy in her final days.
