Larry David Johnson, age 73, passed away on July 9, 2026. He was born on June 14, 1953, to David Lawrence Johnson and Betty Tidwell.

Larry is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Sheilah M. Johnson; his three children, David Lloyd Monihan, Jeanne Anne Shockey-Rios, and Kathryn Rose Torres; his six grandchildren, Andrew, Matthew, Anthony, Christopher, Samantha, and Caroline; his foster-grandchild, James; and his first great-grandchild, Savannah Grace, whom he was especially proud to meet. He is also survived by his sister, Deborah, his brother, Ray, and many extended family members whom he loved dearly.

Larry will be remembered above all for his deep and unwavering love for Jesus Christ. Everywhere he went, he shared the message of Christ's love and the gift of salvation. He never missed an opportunity to tell others that salvation is freely given through Jesus to all who receive Him. His favorite passages of Scripture were Psalm 23 and 34.

Larry went above and beyond to make sure everyone he met understood who Christ was. Whether speaking in English, using the little Spanish and Polish he knew, or simply pointing to the Christ-centered message on his favorite hat, he found a way to share his faith.

Larry deeply loved his wife, Sheilah, and remained faithfully devoted to her throughout their 48 years together. He was a loving father who worked tirelessly to provide for his children, often sacrificing his own rest to ensure they never went without. No matter the challenge, he always found a way.

His grandchildren brought him tremendous joy. He gave each of them a special nickname as a reminder of how deeply they were loved. When his great-granddaughter, Savannah Grace, was born, he was overcome with tears of joy. One of the first things he told her was to love Jesus.

Most of all, Larry would not want us to mourn without hope, but to rejoice that he is now with Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior, whom he longed to meet throughout his life. If he could speak to us today, he would tell us of the beauty of heaven. And if he were still here, he would once again encourage each of us to know Christ and experience His eternal love.

Visitation will take place Friday, July 17th, from 4:00pm - 8:00pm at McCauley-Sullivan Funeral Home 530 W. Boughton Rd. Bolingbrook, IL. 60440. Interment Private.
