Obituary

It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Les Armstrong, age 80, of Bolingbrook, IL, who passed away on November 11th , 2024. A devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather, he leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a passion for life that touched everyone who knew him.

Born on June 29th , 1944, in Anniston, Alabama, Les was the son of Albert and Agnes Armstrong. He married the love of his life, Rita, on November 14th , 1970, and together they shared 54 wonderful years filled with joy, adventure, and unwavering devotion to each other.

As a father, Les was a constant source of support, guidance, and love for his children Dawn Davis and Keith Armstrong. His family was always his greatest joy, and he was a proud papa to Reece, Peyton, Ashley and Andrew. He cherished the time spent with his grandchildren, whether it was sharing stories, offering wisdom, or finding new ways to make them laugh.

An avid golfer, Les found peace and happiness on the golf course, where he spent countless hours with friends and family. He was known for his infectious smile, his sportsmanship, and his creative choice of words after missing the fairway or 3-putting a green. Whether on the fairway or in the clubhouse, he will be remembered for his easygoing nature and love of the game.

In addition to his love of golf, Les was a dedicated Accountant, where he worked for 42 years at Ryerson. He was known for his kindness, integrity, and work ethic, and was respected and admired by all who had the privilege of working with him.

Les will be deeply missed by his loving wife Rita, his children and their spouses Dawn (Bill) and Keith (Violet), his grandchildren Reece, Peyton, Ashley and Andrew, his brother Roger Armstrong (Jody) and sisters Joan Clites (Les) and Gail Sweeny (deceased Jim). His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, and his legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will never be forgotten.

A celebration of Les's life will be held at McCauley Sullivan on Friday, November 15th from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM located at 530 W. Boughton Rd. Bolingbrook, IL 60440. There will be a morning visitation from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Church located on 1501 W. Boughton Rd. Bolingbrook, IL 60490.

Rest in peace, Dear Husband, Dad, Papa, Brother, Uncle and friend. We will miss you more than words can express, and we take comfort knowing you are now on the greatest fairway of all.
