Linda A. Gerrity

Linda Ann Gerrity, 56 of Bolingbrook IL passed away June 8, 2017 at Bolingbrook Hospital with her husband and sons, after a courageous and unfair battle with cancer. Linda was a woman who liked to keep things simple and didn’t want anyone to make a fuss over her - ever. Linda lived her life so well, as a loving, caring, generous, funny, and compassionate person, so we have to make a little fuss over you, Linda. Linda was born in Chicago on June 11, 1960 to her loving parents Theodore and Delores Palcuk. She is now reunited with her siblings Terry Palcuk and Nancy (Bob) Colclasure and survived by Nick Palcuk, Tedi (Eric) Vanesek, Dori (Gene) Meyers, and Amy Palcuk. She grew up an avid lover of the Chicago Cubs and defied social conventions of the time by falling in love with Daniel Gerrity, a devout White Sox fan. For more than 40 years, they had an enviable relationship filled with love, joy and, of course, sports rivalry. Linda and Dan had two sons, Kevin and Jason, and a daughter-in-law, Danielle, who also bleed Cubbie blue, sorry Dan. In addition to her two sons, Linda was a neighborhood mom to many — there to provide a warm home, a kind word and friendly smile to those in need, as they grew into young men or women. Linda was an aunt to many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews on both the Palcuk and Gerrity sides — some of whom who were able to witness her epic “Rock Band” skills first hand, only to bow down to her unexpected victories. Grandma was another title Linda held. She is survived by her three granddaughters Sofia, Fiona, and Valerie. She was the Grandma that kids dream about having. Always having an overabundance of snacks, love, and support. Always there. No matter what. Linda was a dedicated and hard worker, who had been with Wilton for over 30 years. When she wasn’t working she enjoyed rock concerts, sandy beaches, purple pedicures, and most importantly time with her family, and her beloved husband, Dan. Whatever your relationship with Linda, we will all remember her as a spirited and straight-forward soul who brought joy to our hearts and just had a way about her that made us feel grounded and special. We’re all better people for having known her and I’m sure she wouldn’t want us walking around broken hearted, or making a fuss. We love you Linda. We miss you already. And thank you for being such an important part of our lives.
