Lucille Myers's Obituary
Lucille Myers was born on January 31, 1928 to the proud parents of Cassie Myers and Alice Spencer in Carrolton, Mississippi. She was the eldest child born into this union.
Lucille loved school; ultimately teaching third grade students before uprooting to Chicago, Illinois.
Lucille professed her life to Christ and was baptized at an early age. For the last 48 years, Lucille was a member of Unity Fellowship M.B. Church of Chicago, Illinois and New Hope Baptist Church of Bolingbrook, Illinois. She loved to sing in the choir and served in many capacities to support her church family and serve the Lord.
Lucille loved to spend time with family. During her relationship with Clinton Melton, their pride and joy, John H. Simmons was born.
Lucille worked multiple jobs; her most enjoyable job was at Quasar/Matsushita where she worked tirelessly until her retirement.
After retiring, Lucille refused to sit still! She loved bowling and joined many senior bowling leagues.
Her life of service included volunteering at countless hospitals, nursing homes, and homeless shelters.
With her contagious smile and laughter, Lucille affectionately known as Pee-Wee, Moms, Cille, Granny, and Sister Myers, will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her and will forever be in our hearts.
She leaves to cherish her memory: Her loving son, John H. Simmons, Sr.; two sisters, Florence Miller, Berta Joyner; one brother, James Walker; six grandchildren, Derrick L. Simmons, Ylia V. Simmons, John D. Smith (Trish), John H. Simmons, Jr. (Kewana), Anthony M. Donnerson, Lisa R. Donnerson; 18 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, June 3, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service, 11:00 a.m. at Jubilee Baptist Church, 660 Royce Road, Bolingbrook, Illinois 60440. The funeral service begins at 11:00 a.m. The burial will conclude at HillCrest Cemetery, Bolingbrook, Illinois 60440.
