Matthew J. Cushing of Bolingbrook, IL passed away at age 40 on August 9th, 2023.

Matthew was the beloved son of Debra J. Preston, cherished brother of Brian Cushing, Jonathan Preston, and Scott Preston. He is survived by his grandmother Wanda Reeder, aunts, uncles, and cousins, and his dear friend Jason Gerrity.

Matthew is preceded in death by his father William J. Cushing and grandparents Carl Reeder, Lucille Cushing, and Milfred Cushing, and an aunt and uncle.

Matthew was an avid drummer with a passion for music. Apart from his love of drumming, he was fond of film, giving him the title of "Trivia Expert". His knowledge for movies/TV was so extensive, he frequently won trivia games and everyone wanted him to be a part of his team.

Matthew was dearly loved and will be missed by many. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those he loved and touched throughout his life. He will be remembered for his passions and his love for his family and friends.


A visitation to honor Matthew's life will be held Saturday, August 19th, 2023 from 1 - 5 PM at McCauley-Sullivan Funeral Home & Crematorium with a prayer service at 4 PM.
