Michael Edward Davis, age 80, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving and supportive family. Affectionately known as Mike, he lived his life with a big heart, strong convictions, unwavering faith, and an abiding love for his family. He was a proud American, a devoted husband and father, a beloved Papa, and a friend to many. His generous spirit and unmistakable personality will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Mike was the loving husband of Charlene (nee Kropke), with whom he shared a lifetime of love and cherished memories. He was the beloved son of the late James and the late Margaret Davis, and the cherished father of Michelle (Shawn) Lowry and Kelli (Dennis) Fuhr.

Family was at the very center of Mike’s life. He was a proud Papa to Maeve, Maggie, Emily, Michael, and Brooke, and he absolutely adored his grandchildren. He had a special way of making each of them feel loved and important. There was even a little family tradition that brought plenty of smiles: whenever one of his grandchildren dropped the name “Poppy,” Mike would often reach into his pocket and hand them $20. It was just one of the many ways he showed his love and generosity.

Mike was a man of deep faith, and his religion was a key part of who he was. He was a dedicated Eucharistic Minister and took great pride in serving others through his faith. His belief was not simply something he held in his heart; it was something he lived through his actions, his generosity, and his willingness to help others.

A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Mike served his country as a Sergeant. He carried that pride throughout his life. He was also a proud retired electrician and longtime member of Local 134, a profession that reflected his strong work ethic, dedication, and commitment to doing things the right way.

Mike was a man who believed in giving back and helping whenever he could. He was very much a “pay it forward” kind of guy. If someone needed a hand, he was willing to help. He gave generously, looked out for others, and never hesitated to do what he could to make someone's day a little easier. His generosity was genuine and came from his enormous heart.

Those who knew Mike knew he was never one to hide how he felt. He was forthcoming, open, and honest, and you could always count on Mike to tell you exactly what was on his mind. He had a spit-fire personality and wasn't afraid to speak his truth. He said what he meant and meant what he said, always with conviction. That straightforward nature was simply part of the man everyone knew and loved.

Mike was the dear brother of the late Emily (Bert) Viverito and Jerry (Denise) Davis, and brother-in-law to Charles (Laura) Kropke. He was a fond uncle to James, Ed, Jim, Dan, Sharon, Charles, and Lauren, and a great-uncle to many great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was also a cherished cousin and friend to many. Throughout his life, Mike built relationships that mattered. Whether through his family, his faith, his military service, his work, or the many people he helped along the way, he left an impression wherever he went.

Mike will be remembered for his strong faith, proud spirit, honesty, generosity, and tremendous love for his family. He had a big heart and a personality that could never be mistaken for anyone else's. He loved deeply, spoke honestly, gave generously, and believed in helping others whenever he could. Above all, he loved his family and treasured the time he spent with them, especially his grandchildren.

Though his family and friends will feel his absence deeply, Mike's example will continue to live on — in the lessons he taught, the kindness he shared, the faith he carried, and the love he gave so freely. His family finds comfort in knowing that the memories they made with him will remain forever, and that his legacy of faith, family, service, honesty, and giving back will continue through the generations.

Mike’s visitation will take place on Sunday, September 20, 2026, from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m., located at McCauley-Sullivan Funeral Home & Crematorium, 530 West Boughton Road, Bolingbrook, Illinois 60440. Funeral services for Monday, September 21, 2026, will be posted once available.
