Nicholas Frederick Morris

Nicholas Frederick Morris passed away on August 8, 2026, at Edwards Hospital in Naperville, IL in the ICU after a courageous and lengthy battle and complications due to pancreatic cancer. Nick was born at St Luke’s Hospital on March 19, 1965, in Kansas City, MO, to Gene Calvin Morris and Norma Jean (Cleland) Morris the youngest of 5 children. Nick attended Pembrooke Hill School in Kansas City, MO and played Varsity Football graduating in 1983. He continued his studies at the University of Missouri in Kansas City until he followed his brother Timothy to Lisle, Illinois where he met the love of his life Marcia (Patton) Morris on January 1,1992 at the Green Trails Restaurant in Lisle. Nick and Marcia Married on June 19,1993 and immediately started a family. They made their home in Bolingbrook, IL.

Nick was home with their sons Daniel and Aaron during the day and worked at night after Marcia came home from her job at ComEd, now known as Constellation Energy. As the boys got older, Nick decided to continue his education first at Joliet Junior College then transferring to Lewis University where he obtained his undergraduate degree in Business Management with a Minor in Finance. He then completed his graduate degree at Keller Graduate School in obtaining a master's degree in accounting and financial management.

Nick was unable to break into the employment field that he studied for, so he started his own business in a field that was already inundated with Financial Advisors. He loved everything about the stock market and began trading as his business and then as a hobby.

During that time, Nick met (by chance), the Owner / Director of Midwest Christian Montessori School and she said she needed help with their finances and asked Nick to help setup a reporting system with that and sit on the board of directors. Nick gladly accepted. When the school relocated, Nick helped build a playground on the property. He was also involved in the Parent Curriculum Committee of the private high school in Chicago that Daniel was attending.

Nick was a committed and fierce advocate for Daniel’s special needs starting in the third grade becoming involved with the Chicago Chapter of NAMI, (The National Alliance on Mental Illness).

Nick was most happy when working with his hands, building furniture, doing the repairs that come with owning a home and fishing with family at Table Rock Lake in Missouri. He started making wooden serving trays and selling them. A short time after that, he started a Handy Man business as well as working with Task Rabbit, a platform that allowed him to use the home improvement and building skills that he had developed over 25 years and had hundreds of 5-Star reviews and many repeat customers that loved the work he did for them.

Nick was preceded in death by his Father Gene Calvin Morris, his Mother Norma Jean (Cleland) Morris, his Sisters Claudia Sue Weber and Lisa Ann Aufdemburg, his son Daniel Gene Morris as well as his Father-in-Law Arvil Patton, Mother-in-Law Mary Louise (O’Brien) Patton and Bother-Law David Arvil Patton. He is survived by his wife Marcia, Son Aaron Morris of Phoenix, AZ. Brother Timothy (Bridget) Morris of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, Sister Rebecca Morris of Kansas City, Missouri, Sister-in Laws Debbie Patton of Beattyville, Kentucky, Barbara Patton of Grand Haven, Michigan, Brother-in-Law Scott (Denise) Patton of Ypsilanti, Michigan and many loved nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be provided by McCauley Sullivan Funeral Home and Crematorium, 530 W. Boughton Rd., Bolingbrook, IL 60440 on Saturday August 15, 2026, with visitation from 3:00pm to 5:00pm and for those that wish to say something honoring Nick from 5:00pm to 6:00pm.
