Peter G. Tinaglia

Peter G. Tinaglia, 68, of Bolingbrook, IL, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2015. Beloved husband of Janice R. Tinaglia (née Howe) for 45 years; loving father of Tracy (James) and Peter (Andrew); doting grandfather to James, Anthony, Joseph, and Vincent; beloved brother of Camille (Larry), Rich (Pam), Jim (Cindy), and Jackie (Bob); loving uncle to 15 nieces and nephews. Pete placed his family first in everything he did - he was a faithful husband, devoted father, and loving grandfather who lived every day for his beautiful wife, children, grandchildren, and extended family. Born in Chicago, IL, and raised in Berwyn, IL, Pete attended Morton East High School and Morton College studying pre-pharmacy. He enlisted in the Illinois National Guard in 1966 and served in the 33rd Military Police Battalion for five years during the Vietnam War era, attaining the rank of corporal. He then transferred to the Army Reserves and served until his honorable discharge in 1972. Pete and Jan settled in Bolingbrook and raised two children in the home they shared for over 42 years. Pete was self-employed as an auto-body repairman and business owner for 30 years, working out of his home and body shops in Oak Park, Lemont, and Bolingbrook. Pete’s love of all things mechanical led to a passion for snowmobiling, motorcycles, computers, and home improvement projects. He was a devoted fan of the Green Bay Packers, Chicago Cubs, and Northwestern Wildcats. He also loved golf and was always ready for a good round (or bad) with friends. Pete was a proud 43-year resident of Bolingbrook, active for many years in local politics and community affairs. As one of the village’s early residents, Pete was a founding member of the Winston Woods Homeowners’ Association. Pete’s passion for service was reflected in his longtime membership of Rotary International, holding various board positions up to and including president. He was also president of the Chicago Computer Society, helping to advance the field of computing and support all-comers through education in the field of computer technology. Throughout his life, Pete laughed out loud, defined "bigger than life," and was always ready with a joke and a smile. No one was a stranger, only a new friend waiting to be met.
