Ramkrishna Hirji Chandarana passed away peacefully on June 12th, 2026, surrounded by family. “Ram,” as he was fondly known, was born in Nairobi, Kenya, to the late Hirji and Vrajkuvar Chandarana.

Ram married the love of his life, Nila (Sejpal) in 1961. In 1969, they arrived in America with the dream of making a better life for their family. Ram began his career in Chicago at GATX Corporation, where he met his business partner, the late Thomas F. Sheehan, Esq. and together they built a successful insurance agency. He later founded Professional Underwriters Agency and enjoyed a distinguished and illustrious career in the insurance industry.

His philanthropic endeavors included serving as a founding trustee of the VRAJ Hindu Temple in central Pennsylvania, and he was instrumental in the development of the ShriNathJai Temple in Addison, IL. Ram had a heart of gold, as demonstrated by his Gupt Daan donations.

An avid golfer, his spare time was devoted to perfecting his game. His true passion, however, was his love of travel — having seen much of the world. In later life, he found great joy in spending time with his six grandchildren.

Ram is survived by his wife Nila; his daughter Anita Sheth (Serena and Rishi); his daughter Alpa Chandarana (Avi and Ami); his son Sandip Chandarana (wife Sejal) (Samir and Raj), and his brother Kanti (Parag). Ram was a beloved uncle to many nephews and nieces. His legacy lives on through his extended family, who will miss him dearly.

The funeral service for Ramkrishna Hirji Chandarana will take place on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
