Longtime Bolingbrook resident, Richard Nicholas Hrycyk, 78, passed peacefully in his sleep December 30th, 2021, at his home.
Richard was born, January 19th, 1943, in Chicago to Stephen and Bernice (nee Micek) Hrycyk. He graduated from Lane Technical High School in Chicago's West side in 1960. In 1965 Richard enlisted in the Illinois Army National Guard, receiving an honorable discharge in 1970. Later on, Richard received his bachelor's in business administration from Lewis University in Romeoville. He entered the working world at Budweiser from 1964-1967. He then took a job at Griffin Wheel in downtown Chicago as Human Resources Manager; he retired after 34 years in 2001.
Throughout his life, Rich enjoyed bowling, fishing, baseball and watching Chicago sports. He and his mom especially loved the Chicago Cubs and had many years full of memories at Wrigley Field.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Stephen and Bernice Hrycyk; his brother Kenneth Hrycyk; two grandsons Caleb and Cole Hrycyk. He is survived by his sister Janice (Tom) Repel; his five children: Kimberly Renk, Rich (Gillian) Hrycyk, Jeffery (Trich) Hrycyk, Mary Hrycyk, James (Casey) Hrycyk. He is also survived by ten grandchildren; Jeneva and Lilyahna Hrycyk; Tyler, Ryan, Alex and Hunter Hrycyk; Kyle and Keaton Renk; Owen and Ragan Hrycyk; many nieces and nephews; and close friends Dan and Dennis.
Visitation Tuesday, January 4th, from 9:00am until time of prayers 11:00am at McCauley-Sullivan Funeral Home 530 W. Boughton Rd. Bolingbrook, IL. 60440 to St. Francis of Assisi Church, Mass 11:30am.
