Obituary

Mrs. Rukmani Parthasarathy of Villa Park, Illinois passed away on Friday, June 28, 2024 at the age of 87. Mrs. Rukmani was the beloved wife of the late O.M. Parthasarathy and daughter of Mr. Rajagopal Santhanam and Mrs. Jambakam of Jamshedpur, India. Mrs. Rukmani's childhood was spent with her two brothers and 3 sisters in the idyllic environment of Tata company Jamshedpur, India. Mrs. Rukmani was the doting mother of the late Mr. Krishna Mohan. She leaves behind now her daughter Savitha Radhakrishnan, her son-in-law M.G. Radhakrishnan, her son Sampath Kumar, and daughter-in-law Deepasriya Kumar. Mrs. Rukmani Parthasarathy, lovingly called Mimiamma by her grandchildren and many others, spent countless hours caring for and nurturing her three grandchildren R. Rohith, Santhanam Kumar, and Neeraja Kumar.

Mimiamma first came to the United States in 1997 to spend time with her grandson, Santhanam (Santhuppa). It was a memorable time in which she became extremely close to her daughters-in-law's family including Prof T.E.S. Raghavan, Mrs. Usha Raghavan, Tara Raghavan and Manu Raghavan. That visit allowed her to connect with the Chicago Tyagaraja Utsavam community and develop a bond with many people from Chicago. Mimiamma could make friends with anyone with her positive and empathetic personality. Mimiamma permanently shifted to the United States shortly before the birth of her granddaughter Neeraja Kumar in 2004. She was always a very strong and courageous individual who maintained calmness in adversity. Her move to the United States to help her daughter-in-law Deepa give birth solidified an inseparable relationship between the two.

Mrs. Rukmani Parthasarathy was a dreamer, a thinker, a writer, who knew multiple languages, had an impeccable memory for detail and a compassionate approach to everyone she met. She was a practical individual who would adjust to any circumstance. Family was everything to Mimiamma and she was quick to adopt all her extended family as her own whether it be her nieces, nephews, respective spouses or the Raghavan family. Her goal in life was always to keep everyone around her well fed whether that be her children, grandchildren, her other family, or even the nurses at the hospitals and facilities she stayed at in the last few years. She will always be remembered by her family as the cornerstone of grace, caring, and unconditional love.

Visitation will be on Monday, July 1, 2024 from 12:00-1:30 PM (CST) at McCauley-Sullivan Funeral Home & Crematorium. A private ceremony and cremation for family will follow.
