Stanley L. Langston was born in Chicago, Illinois to the union of Elmore and Evelyn Langston,
both deceased. His four sisters, Sandra, Linda, Annette and Regina, also preceded him in death.
Stanley married Cheryl Morton on July 12, 1991 and remained her faithful husband until he
departed this life on November 1, 2021.
Stan graduated from Crane High School and attended Wright College. He spent 45-years in the
transportation field working for such companies as Miller Brewing and Metz Bakery. Stan
possessed an incredible work ethic and truly loved the work that he did. During the past 15
years he owned and operated S and C Transport, a small trucking company. He was known to
be able to parallel park an 18-wheeler as if it were a Volkswagen Beetle.
He had a passion for cooking; always tinkering in the kitchen. His world famous sweet potato
pie and scalloped potatoes will be sorely missed.
His favorite pastime was bowling. He spent many years bowling with several leagues around
the city. He also loved music. The Langston family have all been blessed with singing voices and
that included Stan. He sang with several groups that performed around the state. You could
always catch him humming or singing a song around the house with his specialty being the
blues.
He leaves to cherish his memory: Cheryl Langston (wife), two children, Ellissa (daughter), and
Reginald Langston(son); Also treasuring his memory are his aunts, Mattie Louise and Lois
Langston; a host of cousins that include Deanna Langston, Mary Lewis, Adrian and Angelo
Wolford, Darryl, Paul and Keith Langston; best friend, Paris Hunter; In-laws Laverne Young,
Wanda and Gregory Morton and other relatives and friends. Stan adored his late uncles, Neal,
Henry, and Josh Langston. For him, they exemplified towers of strength for the family in all
circumstances and situations and he strived to follow in their footsteps.
Through the years Stan's spirit yearned for the South where he spent a majority of his
childhood. As an adult, he often recalled very pleasant memories of his early years. He always
spoke in glowing terms about the warm weather, the beauty of the environment, the cultural
mélange, the food and his love of family, "down South." He longed to return to a place where
family members were buried and let it be known that he wanted his final resting place to be in
Como, Mississippi at Ebenezer Baptist Church. "My roots are in the South, and I want to go
home when my time comes," he said. And that is where his remains will be laid to rest.
God in his infinite wisdom took to eternal life Stanley Lee Langston on Monday, November 1,
2021.
