Stephen Greenberg PhD, in the presence of loved ones, passed away Nov 20, 2012 at age 85. Steve, as he was known, earned a Doctorate degree from the University of St. Louis and moved to Park Forest, Illinois where he has resided for the past 55 years. He worked as a Forensic Pathologist and Professor for Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, formerly the Chicago Medical School. He was brilliant Researcher, Lecturer and Author who specialized in Environmental Pathology publishing countless articles in well respected journals. Dr. Greenberg also served as an advisor to the television program, Dr. Quincy, M.D. His life outside his work centered on the numerous Masonic organizations in which he was involved. His ultimate accomplishment was the achievement of the 33rd degree which was bestowed upon him in 2002 in Indianapolis Scottish Rite, Northern Masonic Judisdiction. He was the Past Master of Lawn Lodge #815, Past High Priest of Logan Chapter, Past Master of Temple Council #65, Past Commander of Mizpah Commandry #53 and Member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Chicago, Past Patron of Damascus Chapter #744, OES, Past Royal Patron of Friendship Court #15, Order of the Amaranth, Past Grand Worthy Advisor of the Order of the True Kindred and a member of Medinah Shrine Temple. He was also actively involved in the Masonic Nursing Scholarship program responsible for providing numerous well deserved scholarships, he authored several books on Masonic history and was a regular contributor to numerous Masonic periodicals. He was a Mason who could be counted on and was for many years. Steve was also known for his acting ability. Those fortunate enough to have seen his self authored, self portrayed play Ben Franklin know what we mean. He appreciated any acting role or Masonic part no matter how large or small and he was known for his ability to remember lines and ritual.
Steve was preceded in death by his Father Nathan Greenberg, Mother Ruth Greenberg (Levey) and wife Connie Greenberg (Milder) and survived by Andy Greenberg (Son) of Coppell, TX his wife Rhonda Greenberg and Nate Greenberg (Son) of Bolingbrook, IL and his wife Elizabeth Greenberg. He is also survived by his Grandchildren, Daniel Greenberg, Jared Greenberg, Jacob Greenberg, Jessica Greenberg and Jenna Greenberg. Visitation Friday November 23, 2012 from 3-8 PM at the funeral chapel. Visitation also on Saturday from 9AM until 9:30 AM before departure for burial at Cedar park Cemetery in Calumet Park, IL.
