Sukh D. Gupta, loving husband, son, father, grandfather, brother, was born in a small village in Punjab, India in 1939 before moving to Moga where his large family owned a rice processing facility. Education was of the utmost importance to them and he studied diligently to earn his degree in civil engineering. He married his beloved wife Santosh in 1969. Moving to Chandigarh, they had two loving children, Ritu and Atul.
Sukh always dreamed of coming to America and was finally able to in 1973. Sukh and Santosh worked hard and made a good life for the family in Chicago and stressed the importance of education as the key to security and prosperity. One of his proudest moments was buying a brand new house in Glendale Heights, IL.
Being close to family was always a priority and he moved the family to Farmington Hills, Michigan in 1980. Together with extended family, they created a loving and warm environment for their kids. He loved spending time with his brothers and their families, playing cards late into the night, traveling with friends and family, and especially watching his two grandsons, Surav and Mihir, grow and thrive.
Sukh tragically lost his wife too soon in 2025 after almost 56 years of marriage. With declining health, he was blessed to be lovingly cared for in his final months by Ritu, who went above and beyond to ensure his comfort. He passed away peacefully in his sleep. He is remembered as a kind, gentle, generous soul.
