Surekha Rajpurkar(nee Juvekar), age 84, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2026, surrounded by her family and friends. She is now reunited with her beloved husband, Anay Rajpurkar, who preceded her in death along with her parents, Anant and Sulochana Juvekar and her sister Nilima Munz.
Born and raised in Mumbai, upon her marriage to Anay, Rekha moved from Sydney, Nova Scotia in 1966 before settling in Chicago suburbs in 1970, where she called home ever since and built a life defined by love, friendship, family, and an unwavering zest for life.
Rekha was the heart of every gathering. She loved to dance, sing, cook delicious meals, and entertain family and friends. Her home was always filled with laughter, conversation, and the aroma of food prepared with love. Whether hosting a holiday celebration, a family party, or a simple dinner, she found joy in bringing people together and making everyone feel welcome.
She was known for her infectious sense of humor, quick wit, and ability to make everyone laugh. Rekha never met a stranger and treasured the many friendships she cultivated throughout her life. Her greatest happiness came from spending time with the people she loved. Family was at the center of her world. In addition to being a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she deeply loved her extended family. She cherished her cousins, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews, maintaining close relationships and creating lifelong memories with them. Her love and generosity touched generations of friends and family members across Canada, United States and India.
She is survived by her loving sons, Amar Rajpurkar(Kelley), and Naval Rajpurkar(Molly). She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Dilan, Shailan, Mira, Jayden, Lia, Elise, Marcel, Joey, and Lauren, all of whom brought immense joy and pride to her life.
Rekha’s legacy is one of love, laughter, friendship, generosity, and family. She leaves behind countless treasured memories and an enduring example of how to live life fully, cherish relationships, and find joy in every moment. Though she will be deeply missed, her spirit will live on in every family gathering, every shared meal, every burst of laughter, every dance, every song, and every sweet dessert enjoyed in her honor.
Forever in our hearts. Forever “Top Most.”
