Thomas Novy, age 79, of Bolingbrook passed away peaceful in his sleep next to his wife,
Phyllis 2 days shy of their 54th wedding anniversary, May 3rd.
Son of Francis "Bud" and Lorraine Wheeler Kelso-Novy
Proceeded in death by his twin sister, Patricia McHale, Robert Novy, and Peter Novy.
Tom was drafted into the US Army 1965 where he served at Ft Knox, KY. He trained as a Turret Repairman and then later became an instructor. His accomplishments in the Army included National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Expert Rifle Badge.
Tom began his career as a volunteer firefighter with the Westchester Fire department alongside his father and 2 brothers. In 1972, he began his career with the Bolingbrook Fire Department as a volunteer firefighter. In September of 1973, he started as one of the original 6 paid full time firefighters. Throughout his career he held the positions of: Fire fighter, Paramedic, Lieutenant, Captain and Battalion Chief. He retired in 2000.
Tom leaves behind his wife, Phyllis. Sons, Charles (Teri) of Clearwater, FL, Thomas (Karen) of Wheaton, IL, Daniel (Chia) of Lincoln, NE, and Michael (Brenda) of Racine, WI. 5 grandchildren, Desiree, Megan, Connor, Ryan, and Aiden. Several great grandchildren.
Visitation Friday, May 5th, from 11:30am until time of Service 12:30pm at Divine Shepherd Lutheran Church, 985 Lily Cache Lane Bolingbrook, IL 60440. (Where he and Phyllis are one of the founding families)
Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery on Boughton Rd.
