Tracy L. Fisher

Tracy Lynn Fisher was born February15th,1964 in Chicago, Illinois to the parents of Robert Smedley and Eunice St.James, and made her transition on December 9th, 2022. Her mom fondly called her Bunky #1 and her younger sister Leslie was known as Bunky #2. Growing up, Leslie and Tracy were inseparable and were often mistaken as twins because they looked alike and were dressed alike everywhere they went. Tracy’s love of reading,writing and music began at an early age where she created plays and musicals for her sister and cousins to participate. She would assign them specific roles to perform upon her command which cemented her lifelong skills of leadership and creativity. Tracy was a 1982 graduate of Hyde Park Career Academy. She continued her education at DeVry Institute of Technology where she obtained her Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Human Resource Business Management in 2006. Tracy was a hard worker and took pride in every job that she held. In particular, Leo Burnett and Commonwealth Edison. While employed at Leo Burnett, Tracy served as an administrative assistant. She assisted account executives with marketing development for clients such as McDonalds and Tropicana. Later she gained employment at Commonwealth Edison where she began as a customer service representative advancing to workplanner, and culminating her career as a project manager. In all of those roles she delighted in utilizing her early innovative and leadership skills that she developed as a youth, providing a well rounded professional career life. In April 2021, Tracy retired to dedicate more time to family and writing her novel. One of Tracy’s passions was the Sister Circle Book Club, which she founded and served as president. This endeavor fed her imaginative and analytical zest. The Sister Circle Book Club has been in existence for 11 years, providing essential community service, such as volunteering at Ronald McDonald House and other charitable organizations. In addition, the book club functions as a vehicle to uplift and empower women through social activities, such as outdoor concerts, literary engagements and creating safe spaces for bonding and healing. Tracy's ultimate joy was the love of her life John I. Fisher, whom she met in 1989. After developing a close friendship they fell in love and married on June 27th 1998. Their life together consisted of family, fun, and companionship. Some of their favorite activities included travel,cooking and Sanford and Son! Tracy leaves to cherish her memory, mother–Eunice St.James Smedley, husband–John I. Fisher, sister–Leslie Caren Smith (Martin), sister-in-law–Monique Fisher (George), aunt–Gwendolyn Hughes, aunt–Cecilia Linnen, nephews–Chris and Kyle Fisher, goddaughter–Niyaa Hill, and longtime best friend–Najil Hill (Daryl), and a host of cousins and community friends who she loved dearly.
