Obituary

With deep love and cherished remembrance, we honor Wilbur Wu, a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend whose strength, spirit, and love touched all who knew him.  Wilbur passed away peacefully on June 13, 2026, surrounded by the love of family in the comfort of his home.

Wilbur was the beloved husband of Karen Wu, with whom he shared a life grounded in love and loyalty. He was the cherished son of Herman Hoy Sing Wu and Jane Szatkowski, both of whom preceded him in death. Wilbur was also a loving father to three children from his previous marriage to Pamela Martin: Timothy Wu (Veronica Wu), Benjamin Wu, and Melissa Wu (Mike LeBegue). He is also remembered as a cherished grandfather to four step-grandchildren, a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews, and a dear brother to Mera, June, Carol, Herman Jr., and Grace.

A proud and dedicated electrician, Wilbur was a member of I.B.E.W. 701 for more than 50 years. He took great pride in his work and was known for his unwavering commitment to his craft, his remarkable work ethic, and the integrity with which he lived his life. He showed that same devotion not only in his profession, but also in the way he cared for his family.

In his younger years, Wilbur found joy on the golf course and at the bowling alley, where he took part in many tournaments and made lasting memories through competition and laughter. Later in life, some of his happiest moments were spent fishing, enjoying poker nights with the kids, and bringing family together around meals he loved to grill and cook. He also found simple pleasure in cheering on his favorite teams and watching wrestling and sports, never missing a chance to root for the Chicago Cubs, Bears, and Blackhawks.

Whether sharing a meal, casting a fishing line, watching the game, or sitting among family, Wilbur had a way of making ordinary moments feel meaningful. Wilbur will be remembered not only for the life he lived, but for the love he gave. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the traditions he helped create, and the many memories that will continue to bring comfort and smiles for years to come. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Memorial Visitation Friday, June 26th from 2:00pm-4:00pm at McCauley-Sullivan Funeral Home 530 W. Boughton Rd. Bolingbrook, IL. 60440.
